What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced as Ray-Kee) is a Japanese term for a form of energy also known as "hands on healing." Rei essentially means "higher guidance" and Ki or "Chi" as the Chinese call it, is a form of energy that flows through us. Simply put together, Reiki is a form of natural energy found in the universe, guided by a higher force.
This energy flows through all living things and leaves our soul when we pass. If the flow is good, we are calm, healthy, and happy. Likewise, when the flow is blocked, we fall sick, feel anxious or stressed. Reiki treatments are highly relaxing. It gets rid of negative energy and bring positive ones back into the body to restore balance and help the body heal itself.
What should I expect at my Reiki session?
Reiki is performed in a quiet environment with the client lying on a massage table, fully clothed. Shoes, accessories, and jewelry should however, be removed. Soft soothing music will be played with or without the use of aromatherapy. Please let me know in advance should you choose not to have either during your session.
Gentle, non-invasive hand placements will be felt on the front and back of the head, torso, arms, and legs. Some people prefer not to be touched due to personal or medical reasons in which case the treatment will be conducted with hands placed a few inches away from the body. Please feel free to state your preference at any time.
Due to the highly relaxing effects of the session, many clients do fall asleep. Others feel completely relax as though their body has sunk into the table. At the end of the session, most feel rejuvenated, and relaxed. This feeling could last anywhere from several days to several weeks.
How long does a Reiki session take?
Traditional Reiki sessions are generally 45-60 minutes long. 30 minute sessions are also available for kids. Distance Reiki Sessions take about 20 minutes.
Are there any restrictions on getting a Reiki treatment?
No, not at all. Reiki is safe on kids, adults, pregnant women, pets, the sick, and the healthy.
How many sessions of Reiki are required?
Just like massage therapies, there is no "required" number of sessions. However, the general recommendation is 4 sessions evenly spaced out to aid in proper evaluation of benefits received. Reiki effects are cumulative; therefore, regular treatments provide exponential results. Most people feel stronger benefits with each session.
